Most recipe card makers give you a pretty frame around the same old layout: a list of ingredients, then a paragraph of steps. GridRecipe makes a different kind of card. Ingredients run down the left and every step sits right next to the ingredients it uses, so the whole recipe reads at a glance from across the kitchen.
A finished card. Read the shape first: melt, mix, add eggs, fold in flour, bake.
Three ways to make a card
- Type it. Add ingredients in the order you use them, tap the rows that go together and name the step: "whisk", "simmer 10 min", "bake 180°C 25 min".
- Photograph it. A handwritten card, a stained cookbook page or a screenshot. GridRecipe reads it and builds the card for you to check.
- Paste a link. Drop in a recipe page and get just the recipe back, without the life story and the pop-ups.
Make it yours
Once the card exists, change it in one tap: switch to metric or US cups, put gram weights first, halve or double the batch, or group the method into named stages like "make the dough" and "bake". Add notes underneath for substitutions, storage and who in the family it came from.
Print, share or bind it
Download a PDF on A4 or Letter, portrait or landscape, in three text sizes. Share a link so the recipe stops living in one drawer. Or tick a stack of recipes in your library and export them as a family cookbookwith a cover and contents page. Prefer pen and paper? Print theblank grid template.
Questions
- Is the recipe card maker free?
- Yes. Building cards by hand, saving them to your library, sharing a link and downloading a PDF are all free. Your first photo or link conversion is free too, with no account. GridRecipe Pro ($12, once) removes the small GridRecipe line from PDFs and adds cookbooks and colour themes.
- What size are the printed recipe cards?
- PDFs come out on A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape, in compact, normal or large text. Compact text in landscape fits a short recipe on half a page, which you can trim to a 5×7 card.
- Can I turn a handwritten recipe card into a printable one?
- Yes. Photograph the card, a cookbook page or a screenshot and GridRecipe reads it and lays it out as a grid card. You can fix anything it misread before you print.
- Can I make a whole set of cards or a cookbook?
- Save each recipe to your library, tick the ones you want and export them together as one PDF with a cover and a contents page. Cookbook export is part of Pro.
